The FRENCH REVOLUTION
As simple a it may sound, change implies the modification of whatever was. A transformation led by some believe and executed gently, step by step, during a period of time. It takes a day to make a revolution and a decade to build a government. What the French Revolution that deeply transformed Humanity did, was not to behead rulers in order to terminate their rule. That had been done before by many in many places of the world. What French people did to change the current world of the times, was to call inclusion, to see a picture with all people in, to establish participation and freedom to think and to do. It was a people´s call pushed by the believe that everyone, regardless of his or her position, had the right to encounter opportunities to thrive in life. Everyone (Equality), born free (Freedom) and caring for others (Fraternity). It took the French nation decades to pull those believes through transformation - through change - into Democracy. What Humanity owes to French people is not only their believes, but also their endurance during the hard path needed to travel to make them happen.
Today, peoples all over the World are, again, calling for change. It is their right. Earth societies built pyramids that serve well a few, a small amount of people have everything while a vast majority strives with survival. Elementary Human needs like food, health or education fell into the hands of indolent finances, unlearned children, unemployed youth, unattended elders. The natural Human chain for survival broken at the edge of a cliff where the planet itself hangs awaiting a series of natural disasters caused by the increasing heat. A picture that can only be worsen by wars that unleash massive uncontrollable migrations, and that weakness both, nations and peoples, even more. The traditional political structure that used to keep the present system wore out but, unfortunately attached to an education system that focus only in a few able to pay, left a wide open space for extreme, both Left and Right, populism to make use of void words in order to launch itself from the platform of ignorance into power. There, without knowledge, understanding of the world and its pending dangers, empty of believes and of respect for natural human needs, the situation as a whole, worldwide, only worsens. Peoples call for change because instinctively they know Earth present state of affairs will not hold them.
Amid this situation shows up a young man, Emmanuel Macron, who confused the traditional system by claiming not to belong to any of them. Alternatives are always unknown and, traditionally... traditions have been changed by outsiders. He carries in his speech the spirit of the French revolution - inclusion, equality, caring for others. A centered alternative that can take elements from both right and left in order to build a puzzle of inclusion. Ironically, peoples that want change but live in the system they want to change, hold to whatever they have got in every level of society. Unions, for example, hold tight to their gains, shut doors down, not caring for the unemployed that could very well be their own sons and daughters. But from all the steps Macron has taken, the banner that makes his voice unique is that of Education. He has it clear: "Education is a priority for we must give an alternative to fundamentalism and obscurantism". The alternative would not be other than knowledge and understanding that can only be acquired by education. All Earth sorrows would disappear should every nation educate its people.
French people already went through transformation in the past. They should know best. It is a process that needs abilities, intelligence, patience and trust. It is the essence of pioneers to breakthrough established ways. There are many Macrons in store on Earth at the Millennial headquarters. In the Americas Justin Trudeau speaks for them. Heads taking responsibility in times of transition, walking a path wisely opened by others like Obama, Xi Jinping, Angela Merkel, Nicola Sturgeon, Ban Ki Moon, Jean Claude Juncker, Antonio Guterres and many other, including spiritual characters like Pope Francis. If Earth people long for change, they will do well letting millennial heads work, steady, step by step, through change into a more just, humane ways. As it takes time, they might not see the final product of their work, but people like Macron will stand in history as holders of the spirit of the French Revolution which is no other that the Human spirit. Humility on every side will do. / Silvia Davila MM, EarthPipol, Sept 1, 2017.
